Funding Opportunities for Artists!

If you are an artist in need of funding for a project, check out our new Helpful Resources: Funding Opportunities page for easy access to a variety of different grant opportunities! Here are a few awesome options that provide funding for artists:

Sustainable Arts Foundation Award

The Sustainable Arts Foundation offers cash rewards of $5,000 to artists and writers with families, specifically those who have at least one child under the age of 18. The Foundation aims to help busy parents continue their artistic pursuits or to help reignite it for those who have strayed away in the craziness of parenthood. Applicants must be artists and writers with a strong portfolio of polished work who have at least one child under the age of 18. The grant is award annually.

The Awesome Foundation

The Awesome Foundation is a “global community advancing the interest of awesome in the universe, $1,000 at a time.” This micro-granting organization has chapters all over the world, supporting what they deem to be “awesome” projects through $1,000 micro-grants, given out monthly. Each chapter interprets “awesome” for itself, although such projects often include arts initiatives. Each chapter offers grant money which comes from the chapter’s “trustees” and is given on a “no-strings-attached” basis to support individuals or groups working on awesome projects.

The Harpo Foundation

The Harpo Foundation, an organization established to promote emerging visual artists, offers annual grants made up to $10,000 for under-recognized artists 21 years or older. Artists cannot be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate arts program to enter. Those who apply will be evaluated on the quality of their work, its potential to “expand aesthetic inquiry,” and its relationship to the foundation’s priority to provide support for visual artists who are under-recognized by the field.
